CYA = Cover Your Ass

FYI

Sent this out in an e-mail this morning to some like-minded friends. Thought you might like it, too:

Just some general grousing and thoughts on the past couple days…

First, it's fun to see the GOP spin machine run backwards for once. First, you have Clinton ripping Wallace a new one on FOX and the overall opinion polls showed that Clinton handed Wallace his ass on a silver platter. But the spin machine is trying to make it look like, well, he didn't. In these articles about the confrontation there's always that paragraph, that quote, by SOMEONE who says: "It made Clinton look bad. And that's a good thing." Huh? What? Are they watching the same thing I'M watching?

Then, yesterday, the Today show had Paul Begala and James Carville on talking about their new book and the Clinton moment and they were all over it. What was GREAT about it, was that they had their facts out there and pertinent. At one point saying: "Ms. Rice was on a Fox news show 46 times during this administration and not once did they ask about why they did not retaliate for the Cole bombing." And they went on to say: "Where is she now? She won't go on any talk shows because she knows she has no argument. She knows that you're going to ask about it now." And, you know what, they're right. It's out there, like an elephant in a living room. They'll HAVE to talk about it.

Now this morning all the talk is about this "declassified" memo and Bush saying that this is being "politicized" - well DUH, how stupid do you think we are? OF COURSE IT'S BEING POLITICIZED! If it was POSITIVE for this administration it would have been leaked a long time ago. Karl Rove would have leaked it through Armitrage or Bill O'Rielly or someone else. But the fact that they've kept it under wraps since April (supposedly) and now it's coming out - this administration is accusing people of playing "politics." It's F'ING Washing D.C. during an ELECTION YEAR. What do they think? Oh, that's right, they DON'T think.

So this morning the Today show has Bill "Gambled my life away" Bennett on to interview him and he has the gall, the UNMITIGATED GALL, to say that he doesn't see how the lack of response to "Bin Laden Set to Attack the United States" has anything to do with what is being discussed. WHAT??!! That it has no relevance. Again: WHAT??!! What the hell is he talking about?

First, though, he says it's "Bad for everyone about the release of these documents." Oh, that's right, we're stupid people and shouldn't know what's going on by our own government and what conclusions our government has come up with.
Then Mr. Bennett says: "I guess the larger question is: Why do the Democrats want to go to this issue, particularly Iraq." Uh…Bill, have you SEEN the GOP spin machine for the past 3 years+ It's ALL BEEN ABOUT IRAQ AND NATIONAL SECURITY. Is this guy on drugs? So Matt says: "Why do the Republicans want to bring it up?" And Bill's answer? "They DIDN'T bring it up, this was brought up by Democrats." Oh, so we're back on the school yard pointing fingers. So it's OKAY for the GOP to push the National Security Issue and talk about how much safer we are (see Bush's interview with Lauer from a couple weeks ago) but if the DEMS possibly challenge that by a very memo that's been created BY THIS ADMINISTRATION - we're playing "politics."

Heavy sigh… But, there's a heavier sigh.

In the past week, including yesterday's speech by GWB has said, twice now: "These people want to kill other people to achieve an objective!"

Excuse me George, but what do you think War does? I would like someone more clever than myself to go and find every moment where Bush accuses Al Qaeda, Bin Laden, Terrorists, etc. of killing innocent people to "achieve an objective" and then intersperse those words over the images of the many thousands (AND THOUSANDS) of innocent people killed in the cross fire. Killed for living in a country we have no right to be in. Killed by cluster bombs and "bunker busters." Killed for celebrating a wedding, or their faith, or their freedom. Killed in cold blood on a city street, or tortured to death because someone thought that they were guilty of something at some point.

Seems Bush thinks that it's wrong for Terrorists to kill with the means they have (roadside bombs, knives and sticks, and machine guns and suicide bombers) to achieve an objective we may not necessarily agree with - but it's damn sure fine for us to kill many more thousands with high-tech weaponry, bombs that cost thousands, dropped from planes that cost millions to achieve OUR objective that they may not necessarily agree with.

What do you think happens in a War, George?

What is

CYA?

I bet I know, but it's been a while since I've been in the "office" world.

I just polished off two candy bars in less than 20 minutes... can you beat that?

It's nice to hear that Steve has accomplished one of his dreams.

Viva la witty banter.

What's new with me!

Sorry, no good gossip.

Steve did, recently, accomplish a goal that had been hovering around him for a long time. No, not the goal you're thinking of... He bought a house! In Issaquah. Actually TWO houses. One's attached to the other and he's renting it out. We helped him do some yard work the other day. If you wanted to go out with him...

Other than that - things are moving along with the script. Got a review back from Melinda that she likes the changes we've made and we're beginning the process. How that plays out - I don't know.

It's review time at work. I have to fill out these dang Performance Evaluation Forms and it's always a struggle. I do the best I can to be honest but then HR has all these CYA issues that I have to contend with. It's like: "Be honest, but don't be HONEST honest." Or something.

Sorry, not a lot of witty banter today. Maybe you'll catch me in a better witty banter mood tomorrow.

What's shaking?

It's been so long since we've had witty banter - I miss it.

Any good gossip? I don't have any.... I'm still experiencing a dry spell (visualize the Sahara desert) in the affection department. Oh well, I guess someday it will happen. I'm not too worried about it, but I have almost given up on the thought of having children biologically. I guess there's always technological advances.... science could catch up with my ovaries.

Oh well, enough about me - how about you?

It''s Hard.

It's hard to keep up four blogs at once....

Is Steve still (you know what)?? Just wondering. I got my haircut today and my eyebrows waxed. I must say I'm pretty cute.. but you knew that.

NBC Hypocracy

Okay, hypocracy is probably spelled wrong. My bad.

I was going to write something really witty and long about NBC this week but was BUSY BUSY BUSY at work and was not able to get to it. I STARTED, but didn't get back to it.

Here's the basic deal. The Today show paraded Debra "I had sex with a 15 year old student" LeFave on. Layered make-up, nice lighting and gave her something of an hour or so of Matt Lauer basically trying to get in her pants. (Okay, maybe I'm wrong on that last part.) She, basically, blamed her sex with her student due to her "bi-polar" disorder.

Let me just say it clear right here: BULLSHIT! Bi-polar my ass. She's a slut whore predator bitch who ruined some guy's life and Matt Lauer parades her around like a made-up bitch at the Westminster dog show (can you tell I've had a couple glasses of wine).

Well, here is the hypocracy part... The SAME NIGHT that they have this "indepth interview" with the hot sexy blond they do a "Dateline NBC" show about "How to Catch a Predator" parading these F'ing idiots from Georgia who traveled miles to get into the pants of a 13 year old. Not one of these guys gets to sit, one on one, with Matt Lauer and cry and sob and talk about why their "Bi-Polar disorder" caused them to send e-mails and then drive over and bring a six pack of Zima for a little teenage nookie. Assholes! All of them. Lock 'em up and throw away the F'ing key AND THAT INCLUDES blondie Debra Lafave.

All in all - YUCK.

We haven't been horizontal for a while...

I don't know about Matt, but I have been really busy. Since classes started it has been crazy. Maybe I'll exchange witty banter with Matt next week.

No sun burn...no customers...

Of course, we choose the one rainy day out of the past few months to have our garage/car-port sale.

Spent $11 on signs. Sold $20 worth of crap. Dang!

Did NOT sell the Pilates as I still think Michelle may end up using it eventually.

Good weekend. Seemingly long weekend, which is nice. Went out to dinner last night at "Olive Garden" and their "never ending pasta bowl!" Service kinda sucked but that's life. I'm paying for the "cream sauce" this morning.

My 7" portable DVD player is acting funky and I may have to get another one. At least they're dropping in price (I've seen one as low as $77). I use it pretty constantly watching, on average, a movie a day on it. It's got some glitches in the screen that, I think, are going to grow and not disappear like I had hoped. Oh well.

Birthday present!

Just Don't Sell the

Pilates Reformer... I might want to take it off your hands again.

I'll cross my fingers for the script thing to work out.

I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the phrase "It's All Good"

Is it really all good? I don't think so.. then again I also hate the phrase "my bad" My bad what?

I've been working on my lecture for next week and I've scanned a bunch of photos for it... this is one I just randomly chose..

Have fun at the sale and don't get a sunburned.

Script News...

Well... There's nothing really to say. We had hoped to have it going out to all these people that Melinda know on Wednesday the 13th but...when we told her we were nearly ready she went: WAIT!! DON'T RUSH IT! TAKE YOUR TIME!

Or whatever. So we've delayed it for a week. We've pulled in another writer just to give us a fresh read and I've talked to a writing friend who is willing to take a look. I've gone back into the script and found a number of little typos and things that need to be fixed so it's probably BEST that we hold off on it for a bit.

So...it's all good.

If I was to put a date on it, I would say the date for distribution and hope for sale would be September 20 to 22nd. That is, if Melinda thinks it is worthy to try and send out. We shall see....we shall see...

Having a garage sale tomorrow. Hope we sell a lot of crap.

What's shaking in script land?

I know you are incredibly busy (aren't we all?), but I wanted an update on the script?

If you ever have a free weekend you should come visit me! Bring the family! You could all squeeze into my teeny tiny apartment.

You'll be happy to hear that I have made an appointment to get my hair cut and eyebrows waxed on the 20th. I figure I'm not going to find my future husband if I look like ass (I'm trying out that new term) what do you think?

Have a great day!
